Features
Indices, tables of content, lists of illustrations, tables, or any other aspect of a publication can be quickly and easily created using LinkIndex's tools and simple user interface. Work with either a single document, or with multiple documents that form a publication. LinkIndex collates multi-document information into a single overall listing, regardless of the number of component documents.
Indexing can either use the text contained within a document, or the user can enter more descriptive information. For instance, if the word battery appears, choose to have it indexed as NiCad battery. Dual-level indexing is also supported. Nominate the entry to be battery with a subcategory of NiCad. Elsewhere in the publication, have battery with a subcategory of alkaline. In the eventual index, they would both be generated under the same main heading.
When creating table-of-contents entries, choose to either use text already in the document, or opt for new information. Subheadings within main-section entries can be included up to nine hierarchical levels — sufficient for even the most complex of legal documents. When generating the final listing, choose to use one or more of the levels to create a separate list. This allows the dedication, for example, of level nine to mark all the pictures within the document, and then to create a list of the pictures to be included with the main table of contents.
